Spotify DJ now in German: AI DJ launches in more markets

Spotify is continuing to expand its personalized DJ feature. Since May 7, 2026, Spotify DJ has been available in German, French, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese, in addition to English and other languages that were already supported. At the same time, the feature has been rolled out to more countries.

This means the AI-powered DJ is now available to Spotify Premium users in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Portugal, Brazil, Israel, and South Korea, among others. In total, Spotify DJ is now available in more than 75 markets.

Spotify DJ: Personalized Music Instead of a Classic Playlist

Spotify DJ is meant to make listening to music more personal and more varied. Instead of simply playing a static playlist, the feature puts together an ongoing selection of songs based on your individual listening history.

The DJ combines personal favorites, tracks you haven't listened to in a while, and recent releases, among other things. The music selection is complemented by short commentary on songs and artists.

According to Spotify, around 94 million Spotify Premium users have already used the DJ experience since the feature launched in 2023.

DJ Requests Make the Music Selection Even More Individual

Another part of the feature is the so-called DJ Requests. They allow users to tell their personal DJ which direction they'd like to listen to right now.

Whether it's relaxed music for an evening for two, new releases, or high-energy tracks for the next party – the DJ can adjust the current session accordingly.

Requests can be made by voice or text. This is meant to tailor the music selection more closely to the respective situation and mood.

Four New Voices for Four Languages

For the new language versions, Spotify has developed its own DJ personas. Together with local teams, voices were created that not only speak the respective language but are also meant to fit the culture of the respective region.

Ben – the German DJ

In the German version, Ben takes on the role of your personal DJ. Spotify describes his voice as warm, present, and relaxed.

Maïa – the French DJ

The French voice Maïa is meant to come across as especially laid-back and approachable, speaking to users like friends with great taste in music.

Alex – the Italian DJ

Alex takes over the Italian version. According to Spotify, his voice combines musical knowledge with a relaxed listening experience.

Dani – Brazilian Portuguese

Dani is in charge of Brazilian Portuguese. The persona is meant to present varied music while also making you curious about the next song.

How to Find Spotify DJ

If you use Spotify Premium, you'll find DJ right on the Spotify home page. Alternatively, you can search for "DJ" in the search function.

After starting your personal session, you can make a request via the DJ button. If you want to change the language, open the three-dot menu on the DJ card and then select the language you want.

The feature is still in the beta phase and is being continuously developed by Spotify. To get the latest features, Spotify recommends keeping the app up to date.
